Embark on a captivating bicycle tour through the enchanting landscapes and rich cultural heritage of Italy’s Veneto region. Pedal through the volcanic Euganean Hills, a UNESCO-recognized geothermal wonder, and explore the serene Beric Hills with their rolling vineyards and olive groves. Immerse yourself in the artistic splendor of Padua and the architectural elegance of Vicenza, both UNESCO World Heritage cities. Glide along the tranquil Venetian Lagoon, where land meets water in a breathtaking mosaic.
Discover the medieval charm of Monselice and Este, and visit the picturesque village of Arquà Petrarca, home to the famous poet Petrarch. Along the way, savor the region’s finest DOCG wines and DOP delicacies, from rich cheeses to exquisite olive oils. This tour is a perfect blend of natural beauty, history, and gastronomy, offering an unforgettable journey through one of Italy’s most captivating regions.
DAY 1:
welcome!
the tour is center based. You will have one beautiful hotel for the whole tour to give you the opportunity to cut off time of check in and check out every other day and maximize your expererience of this beautiful corner of the world.
We choosed abno terme on the footsteps of the euganean hills as our base cause its logistically convenient to visit all the 3 cities of the triangle: padua, vicenza and venice. The Euganean Spas of Abano are also the largest spa in Europe specializing in mud-bath therapy and spa treatments.
A perfect spot to combine both sport and cultural atcivities and have a chance to relax and regenerate once we are back at the hotel.
This day will be designed with respect to your travel plans with
time to familiarise yourself with the bikes, go for a warm-up ride,
DAY 2:
the euganean hills loop
today we discover the area surrounding abano terme: the amazing regional park of the euganean hills, nominated in 2024 unesco site.. it’s an area of 341 km2 and 81 non active vulcanos. Throughout the millenials it developed a unique biodiversity also because of its peculiar vineyards.
This area is also nesting some important medieval town such as Monselice and este wich are worth a stop.the ride is smooth and gently rolling.
In the afternoon after some time off we will have a VERY PARTICULAR walking tour and dinner in padova.
DaAY 3:
the beric hills loop
These hills are located between “Euganean Hills” and “Lessini Mountains”; they have a typical morphological aspects; forming a rocky ridge with a delicate perspective towards the south side of Vicenza.
The highest point of the Berici Hills is the “Lungo Mountain” at 445 meters which is remarkably lower than “Venda Mountain” (600 meters) in the Euganean Hills. The differences between the two groups are also caused by the form of the hills and by the nature of the rocks: the Euganean Hills are formed by trachyte whereas the Berici Hills are formed by limestone.
DAY 4:
palladian villas and venice lagoon
easy day mostly on cycling paths. The first part of the route will take us to the famous riviera del brenta a road that follows the naviglio of the brenta river ( a canal built bt the venetians) connecting venice to padova where you can admire allo along numberless palladian style villas DATED BACK BETWEEN 15TH AND 18TH CENTURY.. Once arrived to the beginning of the venetian lagoon we embark on private boat to pellestrina, one of the main islands of the lagoon. Once here we cycle all along this beautiful fisherman island and stop for lunch in one of its characteristic restaurants. After lunch we reach by private boat the ancient town of Chioggia founded by the romans centuries before venice. Return will be with private transfer
DAY 5:
ARQUà PETRARCA AND HIDDEN GEMS
ARQUA’ PETRARCA is a small, picturesque village in the Veneto region of northern Italy, renowned primarily for its historical and cultural significance tied to the famous Italian poet Francesco Petrarca (Petrarch) IT IS known for its medieval architecture, narrow streets, and stunning views of the surrounding Euganean Hills. The town is beautifully preserved, with cobbled streets, old stone houses, and a peaceful atmosphere that attracts tourists seeking a connection with Italy’s literary and historical past. IT IS THE MAIN ATTRACTION OF THE DAY. THE AREA AROUND THE TOWN IS ALSO IMPORTANT FOR THE PRODUCTION OF EVO OIL AND BRODO DI GIUGGIOLE A LOCAL LIQUOR MADE OF JUJUBES.
DAY 6:
ALESSANDRO’S FAVORITE TRAINING ROUTE:
BACKROADS WITH UNEXPECTED SCENERIES JUMPING FROM BETWEEN DIFFERENT VALLEYS. A ROLLING ROUTE WITH SOME ELEVATION BUT IT WILL GIVE YOU A BIG REWARD BACK AND AN AMAZING MEMORY TO TELL. Abano Terme Battaglia Terme, Monselice, Calaone, Rivadolmo, Cinto Euganeo, Fontanafredda, Teolo, Rovolon ARE ALL PLACES VERY WELL KNOWN BY LOCAL CYCLISTS.
